FREE Bokashi and Advanced Composting workshop
Would you like to improve your composting skills and knowledge? Come along and discuss composting styles and their pros and cons, compost activators, compost creatures, temperatures and more. Learn about biodynamic composts, anaerobic compost systems, and how to make your own Bokashi mix. Please note you must have some experience composting to attend this workshop. If you’re new to composting, keep your eye out for beginner composting workshops run by the Councils later in the year. Morning tea provided.

FREE Wollongong Council Ancient wonders of the Rainforest Walk and New Beginnings Composting Workshop
Join us on a Meet the Gardener journey through the Botanic Gardens Rainforest led by the gardener in charge of the rainforest. Explore where the old forest meets the new, discover rainforest species, and discuss the natural cycles of the forest. After morning tea at 11.30am, take part in a New Beginnings, Composting workshop. See how nature composts, then learn how you can recreate this process in your own compost system. Soon you'll be composting grass clippings, weeds, fruit and vegetable scraps and much more!
This activity is targeted at adults, and children are welcome to attend if they are supervised by an adult. This activity is run by Wollongong City Council and is free for residents of Wollongong City Council Area.

Explore the world of frogs, insects and other little backyard critters and find out how you can encourage them to stay around and enhance your backyard biodiversity. On the day you’ll be able to view some specimens of these fascinating creatures, and join in a walk looking for critters in the native bushland. This fun and informative workshop is run by our local wildlife guru Pete Nolan from Habitat Ponds.
Children are welcome but must be accompanied by an adult. This is a Sustainable Illawarra activity and is open to residents of Wollongong, Shellharbour and Kiama Council areas only.

FREE Macquarie Pass Waterfall Walk
Follow the beautiful Macquarie Rivulet upstream and learn about the rainforest and the aquatic life of this special area. Visit the waterfalls and swimming holes of Clover Hill, where you can cool off with a dip in the pool before making the return journey through the forest. This walk contains steep sections and requires walkers to have a reasonable level of fitness.

Kiama Council Second Hand Saturday Giant Community Garage Sale
Second Hand Saturday is a giant community garage sale supported by Kiama Council. Kiama Council organises two Second Hand Saturday events annually, which are followed by a Council clean up. All residents of the Kiama Municipality are eligible to book a free space at the event, and everyone is welcome to come along and pick up a bargain. Gold coin donations will be collected for the Minnamurra Lions Club.
This event is organised by Kiama Municipal Council, and only Kiama Municipal residents are able to book a space to sell their second hand goods.

FREE Wollongong Council Beginner Worm Farming and Composting Workshop
In this hands-on fun workshop, learn how easy and economically viable it can be to reuse your food scraps by setting up a compost or worm farm. Compost improves the soil, helps control weeds, encourages worms and helps reduce pest and disease problems. Worm farms are a great alternative for people who live in a unit or apartment and the worm castings are a good natural fertiliser and soil conditioner. This workshop is targeted at families, and will include activities for adults and children.
This activity is run by Wollongong Council and is free of charge to Wollongong residents only.  A fee applies to residents of suburbs outside of the Wollongong Local Government Area

Come along and talk to a range of different suppliers of solar hot water and solar power systems, seek quotes and gain valuable insights into the different systems and government rebates available.
The format for this event will be:
5:30pm - 6:30pm: Opportunity to talk to local suppliers
6:30pm - 7:30pm: Presentation about rebates and the federal government’s Green Loans program by a representative of the Alternative Technology Association (www.ata.org.au), Australia’s leading not-for-profit organisation dedicated to promoting sustainable technology and practices. 
7:30pm - 8:30pm: Opportunity to talk to local suppliers.

Held on the 4th Saturday of every month, Kiama Produce Markets offers a wide range of produce to cater for everyone’s tastes. Fresh fruit and vegetables, eggs, herbs, honey and a range of spices, oils and vinegars, dukkah, chutney and sauces are on offer, as well as organic vegetables, hot foods and sweets - definitely gourmet food in a gourmet setting! Everyone is welcome to come along and enjoy a very delicious outing.

Do you have garden surplus? Are you concerned about issues of food quality, sustainability, fairness and waste? Join us! We meet on the 4th Saturday of every month to swap home-grown produce (herbicide/ pesticide free). FairTrade coffee and sweets will also be available for purchase.
